I accept all injured wild birds. All other injured animals I will refer to the most appropriate regional rehabilitator.

I have worked with and owned caged and domestic birds of many sorts for my entire life. I currently run the Ulster County Feathered Friends Poultry 4-H Club and manage the county fair poultry barn. I have a small poultry egg farm. I can answer most questions related to domestic poultry illnesses, problems, housing etc. I am an experienced hiker and can answer most questions relating to common wild birds, their habitats and life cycles. I have raised and bred canaries (and cocketiels) for several decades. I am a certified NYS social studies teacher, and have offered workshops and hands-on events for kids of all ages in many many subjects over the years: poultry, egg incubabion, basic dog training, regional geology, etc. etc.

We provide housing for a large range of birds, however, we specialize in all birds of prey.
Our goal is to help these animals with as little western medicine as possible, depending on the
injury, homeopathy is our first choice with remarkable success.

Skills: We can provide educational programs to schools, camps, clubs and adult audiences.  Our most interesting programs are the birds of prey as they are the barometers of our immediate ecology.  Wildlife preservation and habitats are a large part of our talks.  The food chain including pesticide awareness and pollution, recycling and the whole earth principal with respect to nature is our message. Ravensbeard also has a black bear educator who has studied with Dr. Lynn Rogers of Minnesota.

Comment: We would love to link up with like nature centers, rehabilitation centers, raptor centers, Audubon centers, Cornell Ornothology interested links and other nature conservancies.  Anywhere we can enlighten interested and concerned individuals.
